Abu Simbel

Abu Simbel consists of two massive rock-cut temples built by Ramesses II, not Ramesses III. The larger temple is dedicated to Ramesses II himself, while the smaller one is dedicated to his wife, Nefertari. Abu Simbel is famous for its grand statues of Ramesses II and its relocation in the 1960s to avoid flooding from the Aswan High Dam.
